Sept. 19, 2011

Okay, time to do some serious catching up.  It is almost midnight on a Saturday night, and I know I have been LAZY about doing my blogging.  I have been busy, no doubt, but this is going to be a big job to catch up!  And what are big jobs?  Little jobs that you didn't do when you should have!

Right, so September 19.

Nothing too big to report from this day, excepting the fact that I got surprised with having to do my Vitals and Oxygen check-off; apparently it was the last day and I was the last one to know!  Overall, I did okay.  My professor pointed out not to count respirations when taking an apical pulse; he thought I was basing it off of lung sounds, but I let him know that I usually do it when I'm taking the radial pulse and just did it differently that day.  I thought it would be good to do respirations while taking the apical pulse, because I could see the chest rising and falling, to which he said to be careful about that because not everybody's chest rises and falls (some people are abdomen breathers).

Oh, and I had the first of four exams of the week.  Thankfully, it wasn't too terrible and I did pretty well, so it was a great way to start the week.

And, that's all I've got to say about that.
